Naples, Italy -- The garbage crisis continues in Naples. The images of the potentially beautiful Neopolitan landscape are ruined by piles of garbage taller than most cars. Given no alternative, the people of Naples live in and amongst these trash piles which surround restaurants, homes, and places of work.
The scene of the fire shown on iReport two weeks ago was cleaned, but the cleanup leaves much to be desired. The wall along the road was destroyed and the dumpsters, which sat in the middle of the road for a week, have been thrown over the wall into the field beyond.
Trash is picked up intermittently, but the piles soon reappear as the local residents have nowhere else to leave their garbage, but the side of the road.
