The driver of a pickup truck was critically injured in a crash that
sent his truck into the side of a house at the intersection of
Shoreham Beach Road and Waterview Drive in Edgewater., Maryland.
An off duty fire department official was on his way home at
about 9:30 PM when he spotted the wreck and called rescue units.
The speeding Ford pickup truck had run off the road, into a
sign, and flipped over spinning air bourne into the side wall of a
two story house. The truck knocked out a large section of the the
garage wall and struck a number of mechanics tool cabinets, ripping
them apart and sending tools flying across the garage, according to
one of the homes occupants, who also added that a Corvette in the
garage was also damaged, but can be repaired.
Upon impact, the driver of the pickup was ejected from his
vehicle and was found laying among the debris.
According to county Fire Department spokesman Battalion Chief
Matthew Tobia, the mans injuries were " critical and unstable". His
truck rolled several times. He was flown to Prince Georges Hospital
Center, he added.
County fire officials have declared the garage area of the
home unsafe and it will require major repair, but the occupants may
continue to live in the home. None of the homes occupants were
injured.
One man living at the house said that he was more concerned
about the injured driver than the damage to the house.
There were no other vehicles involved in the crash, and there
is no word yet as to why the vehicle was going so fast on a
residential street ?
The accident is under investigation by the Anne Arundel
