Feel Your Heart RACE!!!
July 10, 2008 | Lafayette, Indiana | Vetting explained
There are so many reasons we love Nascar. First and foremost - Nascar gives back to its communities. We have been able to experience this thru the Victory Junction Gang Camp and Riley Children's Hospital. My oldest son has Down Syndrome and many other problems. We were invited last year to attend the VJG camp - the joy that the Petty's and other drivers have given to these children is remarkable and priceless. (see attached pics with "The King" and my son). The moment we get near race cars my son goes crazy! He LOVES it - saying "my car - my race".
Since we live in Indiana we also benefit from Riley and Methodist Children's Hospital. Jeff Gordon and other driver donations help make the hospital one of the top in the U.S. Plus Indiana is the World Racing Capital! We have never taken our oldest to the track because he wants to be up close to the cars, but its hard to do at Indy.
Nascar is a great family participation sport - multiple family run operations and generation of racing stars from the Allisons, Petty's, Labonte's and Earnhardts. What better sport than to bring your family along - and make new family with those seated around you at each race.
Coming from a racing family (where we've all raced on dirt at sometime) and youngest son is currently racing Jr. Sprint cars- he keeps saying he's the next Tony Stewart - we just laugh. I tease him saying Tony's parents only live 8 miles away in Dayton - maybe he should go talk to them for some pointers haha.
Anyway - we love Nascar because it loves back - what other sport instills such values and takes such pride in what it has and hopes to achieve in the future? NONE - Nascar ROCKS!
