Too Hot to Fly! Hot Air Balloon Landing in Local TN Neighborhood
July 19, 2008 | Kingsport, Tennessee | Vetting explained
Tonight is the last night of a local community festival called FunFest in Kingsport,TN. On this night a hot air balloon race is held, along with a large outdoor concert and fireworks. My family was walking out of the house to go to the FunFest concert, and we heard a hissing noise. We looked down the street and saw a hot air balloon hovering over the road. Before we knew it the hot air balloon chase team drove around the corner, and the chase was on. Neighbors and locals in their cars followed the balloon up Crestwood Dr. until it landed in a small backyard of a house on the corner of Crestwood Dr. and Mountain Dr. The balloon driver quickly gave instruction to the chase team and the police officer. A big sigh of relief was heard when the balloon was successfully deflated, after nearly hitting several power lines and the house itself!
I have attached 4 photographs, beginning with the first view of the balloon to the landing. I thought they were all interesting. It's not every day you walk out your house and get to see a hot air balloon land. Enjoy! :)
