African Amercians dying too soon?
July 23, 2008 | Long Beach, California | Vetting explained
Black people lead in all weight related diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, obesity and certain cancers. Because of these dieases, we have the highest mortality rate among adults. Our health is the biggest issue facing the black community today.
My sister Cathy (photo right) died at age 49 after a lifetime of battling her weight.
When will we as a community get serious about our health?
I wrote a book called HUNGRY FOR MORE which encourages black people to get control of their physical and emotional well being for happier, more producitve lives.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
