Surviving? Not really.
I live in San Diego, one of the most expensive areas of the
Country. Although I earn twice minimum wage, I support my entire
family by myself. My husband works in construction and hasn't
worked in over a year. The housing bust hit San Diego hard. A year
and a half ago we had $20,000.00 in savings. Now we are 2 months
behind on our rent and can barely afford food. Every month we beg
our landlord for just a few more weeks before he throws us out. We
have a 4 year old that I took out of preschool because we can't
afford it. Our family could make ends meet on two salaries. We
can't do it on one. I can't even see an end in sight.
Fighting back? Not even. More like giving up.
