Are You STARVING on Minimum Wage?
There is no way to live in America on between $6.50 per hour and
$8.00 per hour (depending on the state) unless you are receiving
help with living expenses from family or friends from my
experience. This may be a basic starting pay for students or people
training for jobs, but it seems unconscionable to pay people this
small amount for a full-time position. Companies are already
cutting way back on employee benefits like health care and dental
coverage as well. Years ago they did away with giving people
pensions too. There is certainly little chance of raising children
on this amount of money unless you get help from family and the
government, especially if you have ANY health problems in the
family at all. Unpaid medical bills are the number one cause of
bankruptcy in America, because expenses can so quickly out way
income. The cost of living, including housing, food, clothes,
transportation and health care have just outpaced income by a huge
amount. This "economic storm" is making it more difficult than ever
for the American Dream to be attained.
