Morbid?
I named my daughter Avanelle. Right now, she prefers "Ava"
which we shortened it too at birth since she was so tiny. But with
so many "Ava"s now in the world, I'm thrilled that she has the
ability to lengthen her name to set her apart.
The story behind the name is a bit morbid. One day while I
was in middle school, my siblings and I were out and about with my
step-dad. We came across a graveyard from the late 1800s, early
1900s and stopped to explore. While walking around, I found a
family who had 5 or 6 kids - none lived to age 2. All boys, except
for Avanelle. I loved the name and when I got home I wrote it down
in my diary to use if I ever had a girl. And I did.
Oddly enough, my husband's receptionist at the job he held
when our daughter was born, had a great-aunt down south named
Avanelle. Guess its a southern name. Which makes sense because I
the graveyard is in Georgia.
