Good series, really hit home.
I really enjoyed this documentary. I think they covered a broad
spectrum of black americans and issues facing black americans. This
story really hit home for me, growing up in a single parent
household, dropping out of school, to moving from Philly to South
Carolina and going back to school. I had to turn my life around
with the help of my family. I like what Charles Barkley said on the
show "at some point we have to draw a line in the sand". One day I
decided that I wanted to change my life, that I wanted to succeed,
and above all do the right thing. That was 14 years ago and I am
now a graduate of the University of South Carolina, and currently a
Systems Programmer at BlueCross BlueShield of SC. But this is not
about celebrating my accomplishments. Nothing comes without hard
work. We see images on Television of the finished product, but the
work to get there is hardly ever known or shown, the overnight
visits to the library on campus for the Lawyer, the computer lab
for Engineer, the gym for the Pro athlete, or even the studio for
the recording artist. I'll end with a quote: "The artist is nothing
without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work." - Emile
Zola (1840-1902)
