FatherWhoDidn'tLeave
I watched Black in America with great interest and expectation,
but I was disappointed that the slant was more toward the negative.
We get enough of that on the local news (I receive the Atlanta, GA
news feeds) every day. Prejudice and racism are conditions of the
heart which can only be cured when those involved are willing to
honestly examine themselves and are then willing to change. We all
know that the color of money is the reason behind the past and
present racial atrocities in this country and the world. I was
particularly intrigued by the slave trader who was willing, in the
name of potential profits, to lick the face of an African in order
to discern the salt content of the African's body, with the intent
being to determine if the human commodity would be able to make the
arduous Atlantic voyage.
Again, the promise of money will cause you to lick my face, but
you don't want me to live next door to you or play with your
children because you have convinced yourself (for selfish profit)
that I and those like me are less than human?
