Notes on turning 50:

  • We threw a catered party to mark the accomplishment. Family and friends helped celebrate the half century I managed to survive.

  • The older I get, the more Dad was right, there really is a lot of small stuff.
  • I have to exercise to compensate for my slowing metabolism.

  • My reading glasses are never far away.

  • By far, the most rewarding part of my journey has been raising my daughter (now 10).

  • I am reminded of a line by Jimmy Buffett, "...growing older, but not up...".

  • Family and friends make the world go 'round.

  • Work is a necessary evil to afford more time with family and friends.
