Doctor Who?
August 3, 2008 | Pennsylvania | Vetting explained
I didn't realize I had an unusual name until I arrived in the US last Fall. My ancestors were from the scenic valley of Kashmir in the Indian Subcontinent, though they later settled in the city of Lahore in Pakistan. "Butt" is far from an unusual last name for Kashmiris. The American system of initializing the middle name (my REAL name back in Pakistan) makes it all the more difficult - or maybe it's just me who thinks having yourself announced as Muhammad Butt publicly is uncomfortable! Cherry on the cake? I'm enrolled in a doctoral program, so come 2011 or so i'll be Dr. Butt!

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
