The World Twits As Olympic Ceremonies Blast Off!

It was amazing to watch the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, but it was also curiously fascinating to watch (and read) a fireworks of postings on Twitter.

 

If you're not familiar with Twitter, it's a micro-blogging platform that allows users around the world to share very short messages with others.

 

I often eavesdrop on a site called Twitscoop that gathers posts based on topics or keywords so you can get a global feel for stuff you're interested in. They include a cool graph that shows topics as they rise and fall in interest over the past 6 hours, 1 day or 3 days.

Opening Ceremonies were absolutely absolutely breath-taking! Such an amazing display.

 

Opening Ceremonies Twit: President Bush and Laura Bush look bored out of their minds.

 

I was mega impressed with the opening ceremonies although not so much with Ralph Laurens outfits for the USA team.

My favorite part of the Olympic opening ceremonies: seeing Yao Ming hoisting up the cute little heroic kid. Also, how about those fireworks?

 

Olympics r on! Wow! Unbelievable opening ceremonies. The fireworks set off all car alarms around it.

 

In true international spirit, we're eating taco salads while watching the Olympic opening ceremonies.
