Isaac Hayes in 1971 and 2004
August 12, 2008 | Atlanta, Georgia | Vetting explained
When I was in college at Clark (now Clark Atlanta University) Isaac Hayes appeared at the old Atlanta City Auditoruim in concert along with Luther Ingram. I was there with some friends from school and had taken my camera along as a last minute thought. As a result, I photographed the entire concert in black & white along with a few shots of Luther Ingram's performance. I still have the images now, along with my original negatives. The concert was phenominal! As a professional photographer now, I interact with many celebrities, and had the pleasure of working with Mr. Hayes again here in Atlanta in 2004 when he was guest performer at the Atlanta Marriott Hotel for the national conference for the LINKS, Inc. We took a picture together and talked about the first time that I saw him. In 2004 he was just as exciting (even without the chains) as he was when I first photographed him back in 1971. The Black Moses finally made it to the promised land, and heaven is all the better because of his soul.
