Lightening Caught
August 13, 2008 | Near Innsbruck, Austria | Vetting explained
Near Innsbruck, Austria - The diameter of this lightening bolt as show here, one would hope, was exagerated by the camera. This bolt was some distance from the camera, hard to say, maybe 2 or 3 miles but it looks like it was so close it was on the car hood.
I saw this storm brewing up ahead, reached for my video camera, put it up on the dash, pressed record and hoped something interesting would happen. This frame was the most impressive. When the rain finally started my new car got a good washing. Too bad it did not rinse as well as it washed leaving way too much road grime on the once shiney finish. I'll consider myself lucky it did not get pinged with hail stones as large as the lightening bolt.
