ADVICE FOR PARENTS AS NEW SCHOOL YEAR BEGINS

With August reaching its midpoint, the beginning of the new school year can't be far behind. It's always a good idea at this time of year for parents to remind their children of basic safety tips for traveling to and from school. This all sounds simple enough, but - sadly - many young lives could be saved with just a brief conversation between parent and child. Specifically, children should be reminded to:

(1) NEVER play in the middle of the freeway - stay on the shoulder whenever possible.
(2) If you're pointing your handgun at a friend's head, make sure it isn't loaded. Alternatively, load it with blanks - it sounds just as cool.
(3) Don't accept rides or gifts from strangers. Sure, the guy in the photo above looks harmless enough, but he could be some kind of weirdo pervert for all you know.
