Saying Goodbye
August 20, 2008 | Billings, Montana | Vetting explained
I have been a fan of Dave Matthews Band since their Crash album debuted. I remember getting the CD for Christmas and repeatedly listening to 'Say Goodbye' just to hear the sweet trilling flute before the song. Even on the coldest winter days I remember that melody to lift my spirits; which living in Montana I need that comfort quite a bit.
During my early twenties I met a boy who loved the band as much as I did and we went to many concerts every year during our relationship. Our favorite venue was the Gorge and we had many happy memories all from and for the love of this group. He was the first one to let me know this morning of LeRoi's untimely passing and also to wish me well on my birthday, which so far has been sorrowful. I take comfort in remembering all the happy memories that I wouldn't otherwise have not allowing LeRoi Moore and the other band members into my heart.
My heart does ache though for the loss of this wonderful man and all the inspiring melodies he has introduced into my life. My sympathies go out to his family and friends. I have faith that the remaining members of Dave Matthews Band will keep on doing what they do and bring honor to the memory of this remarkable individual.
Rest in peace LeRoi Moore and keep playing that sweet saxophone for all to enjoy on the other side.
