The Day the Music Died
August 21, 2008 | Austin, Texas | Vetting explained
I have been a fan of the Dave Matthews Band for the past 12 years. My first exposure to them was a random night of channel surfing when "Friday Night Videos" used to air on TV. I watched in awe, at the TV mind you, the power of this tremendous band. The next morning I went out and purchased Under the Table and Dreaming ... on tape! I attended my first show in 1996, joined the WH in 1998 and have been following them ever since.
At the concerts, more often than not, my eyes are closed. When I bring people to their first Dave show they ask me why are my eyes closed ... it's simple ... the music is in my soul and I can feel it better than I can see it. I have been listening to cd's for the past 24 hours trying to come to grips with the loss of LeRoi. Like many others, my heart is heavy with sadness. My thoughts and prayers are with Dave, Carter, Boyd and Stefan, as well as the road crew and LeRoi's family. Rest in Peace LeRoi!
