August 23, 2008 | United States | Vetting explained
Since 9-11, my name has appeared on the "no-fly" list. I am unable to check-in online or even at the kiosks in the airport. The screen always tells me to see the gate agent for further instruction.
Once I provide all my documents (I carry my passport even flying domestically) I am cleared. I finally asked an agent why this keeps happening. All she could offer me was that my name is on the list and I will always have to check-in in person until this gets cleared up??? I didn't understand her answer then and I don't understand it now.
I've never been denied flying because of it but it is a hassle and embarassing.
Interestingly enough, when I check in internationally, I never have this issue.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
