Bay 10 right next to the Cyclone is my memory of Coney island. Every summer day from grammar school through high school my friends and I would take the F train from Kings Highway to the last stop... and head on over to Bay 10 to oil ourselves down and tan with our sun reflectors. We woudl only take a break for for nickel ice cream sandwiched between two waffles, or endless rides on the cyclone or the race horses at Steeplechase and finally the best tasting french fries of all: Nathans!
Coney island was a vibrant place in those days gone by (1950s-60s) , it subsequently fell on tough times, then appeared to be having a bit of a resurgence, but in the end i am afraid it will fall to developers and the deterioration of another new York City.
i am no longer a New Yorker, I know call California home, but every time I visit my family who still live in brooklyn I make sure to go to coney...
Mayor Bloomberg... please save as much of Coney Island that you can, so that I have a place to visit and fondly remember my childhood
In response to assignment: Coney Island amusement park closing
