Hello Everyone, I'm vickie Maidstone reporting, Artistic Fimicoloud, Fimi as she is known to her family and friends the world over, passed away two month's before the Relay For Life in Second Life. since then, I learned several different stories of courage, love, determination, and most of all, thru her paintings and crayons, she taught us how to live.
I had a chance to talk with Dusk Griswold recenty and she told me about Fimi, the impact she has on the Team Passionate Redheads as well as her family and friends around the world. Dusk went on to say that after Fimi had passed away she was getting ready to DJ at a club, the mood there was somber, Dusk told me she like 10 minutes to go live when a thought struck her and with very little time she began playing music that celebrated Fimi's life. I was told that event alone raised over L$105,000, and even that wasn't all. Dusk related how another event raised additional amounts to where the final total was over L$141,000. Dusk even told me about how just days before that a group of her inworld friends had gathered together, to get pictures taken, to send to Fimi in RL, by then Fimi had already passed away, but her RL family I'm sure were surprised to get something from a virtual enviroment. Dusk told me how the team Passionate Redheads had rallied in Fimi's memory, how they raised the funds, how they kept the purpose of relay alive, and even as the Relay was in progress, how the spirit was passed to all the teams and others involved and even to the general public.
Fimi did not let the fact that she was dying bother her, but rather took paintbrush and crayons in hand to express herself, I visited Fimi's home and saw some really nice art work she had done and even one picture had her RL image included in one of her paintings, in spite of the realization of cancer destroying her body, she taught us how to live, no matter the circumstances.
For me, the emotional impact this has made for many of her friends the world over, her family, shows what kind of impact we can make, in a virtual world, and it's contribution to the real world. Fimi's life is in victory, and for those of us involved with Relay For Life in SL, Fimi's spirit will be our guiding light in the Relays to come.
