I am all for a bright, ambitious woman with a child with special needs getting ahead in America. However, what in the world was John McCain thinking by nominating Sarah Palin, MOTHER OF 5 including a newborn baby with Down Syndrome to the V.P. spot on the Republican party's ticket? She may be bright, have similar policy priorities as McCain, and be very capable, but NOBODY can raise five kids while taking on the serious roles of traveling the world and solving the problems faced by the U.S. and the world right now! She is no Hillary Clinton. Hillary has 35 years of public service experience and no small children who she needs to raise right now. Sarah Palin's only option would be to choose one role or the other, meaning neglecting her children, even the baby with Downs Syndrome who most definitely needs constant attention, or doing a "part time" job at the extremely demanding and high pressured role of running the country. Maybe in several years, with more governmental experience, and with older more independent kids, Sarah Palin would have been a great V.P. choice. However, given her current full plate today, McCain is sets a horrible example for Americans by telling women not to put their infants with special needs first, and choosing someone with little experience compared to many other potential female and male candidates. Is he totally clueless as to what it takes to raise a special needs child or large family in America today? Is he totally clueless as to what it takes to be V.P. or potentially President of America?
