Even though I'm an Obama supporter, I respect McCain and I see the appeal to vote for him. In fact, I like McCain more than most other candidates, but to me Obama is the man for the job now, undoubtedly.

But then McCain makes a decision that shows that he just wants to be in office and nothing more. The pick of Sarah Palin is a ploy to squeeze out votes; I knew it the instant that I saw it and I think that Americans are smart enough to know when a decision is sincere and when it is part of the political game.

When Barack Obama picked Joe Biden as his running mate, it was apparent that he was doing something that he felt was the best choice. If Barack was trying to get votes, he would have chosen Hillary as his running mate and left it at that, pulling in all the women and Hispanic voters that Clinton was drawing in the primaries. Clinton was the easy choice. Joe Biden, however, is not such an easy choice but shows that Obama is willing to make these tough choices.

McCain, however, chose someone who will get himself votes. After choosing her, the McCain camp talked about the in-depth vetting process and how she came to be the choice. However, he chose a candidate who is under investigation for firing her Public Safety Commissioner for NOT firing her ex-brother in law, who is an Alaska state-trooper that just went through a messy divorce with Palin's sister. Also, with the big news story of Palin's seventeen year old daughter who is pregnant out of wedlock. Gov. Palin is also very inexperienced, which is hypocrytical to the battle cry of Republicans across the nation who claim this as Obama's achilles heal.

Without a shadow of a doubt, I believe Obama picked the person who would he thought would best lead the nation if something were to happen to him, as well as picked the candidate that could best advise him on things that he is less experienced. This is what the vice-president is for.

John McCain went with the pick that would get him the most votes. Americans aren't dumb, and I believe they'll see through this. At the age of 73, it is fair to say that McCain may need a good backup on the sideline to carry the ball in case he goes down. And Sarah Palin, my friends, isn't someone that I would want to count on for my team.
