I am feeling the pinch but I always have felt it. I have had a rough life, and was put into the mental health system and on SSI when young. In other words, I have been poor all my life. However, from living homeless at times, to living in dilapidated shacks owned by slumlords, I feel very lucky right now, renting a house from my brother, where everything works. I have a car that runs also, a novelty to me.

This year I started a small garden and existed lunches and dinners, for a week, on one large zucchini from the garden. I began helping get feral and stray cats fixed, in the late 90's, trapping thousands of cats, and I am still doing this work. It is much harder to scrounge what I need to do it, with prices soaring. But, I still feel extremely fortunate.
