Since the beginning of the week almost two thousand Penguins have been found dead on the beaches of a Beautifull Brazilian Island in the southern part of Brazil because of a deisel spill from an unknown boat. The Island is a tursist atraction for many in Brazil and during the summer many Argentinians migrate to enjoy the beauty of the beaches. The lovely Island is called Florionopolis that is part of the State of Santa Catarina.

It is not uncommon that the Penguins from the antartic migrate during this part of the year to the Island.
The ambiental Police collected 170 still alive that where sent to the (Cetas) Centro de Triagem de Animais Silvestres to be discontaminated many locals are donating volonteer service to help clean the Penguins. Also wild birds have been sent to the Cetas for help.
A freind of mine who just moved to the area has informed me of the disaster and says she will take some pictures on Tuesday of the relief effort. Although I no longer live in the same area of Brazil the above picture was when I visited the Island as you can see one of the Islands beaches "Jurere" in the background of the picture in the off season.
