Residents in Upper Kirby woke up early to check the damage to their properties caused by Hurricane Ike. There is currently localized street flooding, trees down, limited roof damage, and boards and other debris that have flown off  nearby buildings onto the streets.

Power returned at 7:20 a.m. on the Kirby/West Alabama block.

Local news stations are reporting near 100% power loss, and are declaring that debris in the streets will continue to be a problem throughout the day.
