Galveston
September 14, 2008 | Galveston, Texas | Vetting explained
These pictures were taken before the storm at about 9AM Friday. You can see the waves were already hitting us pretty hard and there was a fair amount of water on the island.
Note the three pictures of the Galveston firefighters. They were turning off the natural gas to the buildings built from the sea wall into the gulf. As the wave comes in the stairs disappear.
The last one is me.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
