Abraham Lincoln This is a personal letter to our government, something I was inspired to write after watching the past months of debates and failure of our economy. We the people, the governed call on you our government to answer our calls as we have answered yours. Have we not raised arms in the name of our country when called upon to fight an enemy of our nation. Have we not in times of great despair and financial ruin rallied behind and with you to restore our countries economical system. Have we not in times of great disaster man made or natural pulled together to ensure the safety and restoration of life. Have we not answered the call at 3am, to serve in whatever capacity necessary to fulfill our obligations for our towns, cities, states and government. We call upon you to do the same. We ask that you protect us and provide to us policy and regulation that allows no man strength over another. We ask for you to stop corruption even when the odds of not being caught are in your favor. We ask you to hold true to the promise you pledged in your campaign. We ask you to answer the call at 3am, or when our country is vulnerable to attack, disaster or in need of help. How do we deliver to you our commitment each day but by our work to keep the very foundation of our government together. Within the spirit of this great nation we are firefighters, police officers, community leaders, soldiers, sailors, men and women of all colors and skill. We go to work each day and provide a small piece of the puzzle which we call America. We pay our taxes, and volunteer our time so that in this great union of states we provide for those who may not be able to provide for themselves. What better call to action then to be there for your fellow man and woman. You our government will never be without mistake and failure. We the people will never abandon you in these times. In the past many haven risen against you to call out that which you have failed to do, but know that when we point out your failure it is to practice that right which makes our government great. Because we call out against you does not mean we are not for you. Do not challenge our love for this great institution because we challenge that which this institution has made manifest. We only challenge you so that we all may prosper and be free of harm. I ask you to make each decision with us in mind. I call on you to speak across party lines to develop policy that will help the nation and not harm us. I ask you when calling on our military and commanding they bear arms against another nation, that the call to duty will be for a just cause. I ask you regardless of party to be there for us, as we have been for you. I am black, white, Asian, Jewish, catholic, Muslim, man and woman. I am of all colors, races and religion.
