Yet another suicide attack in Pakistan...
September 21, 2008 | Islamabad, Pakistan | Vetting explained
Yet another suicide attack hit Pakistan yesterday night (20th of September, 2008).
A large truck broke through the security gates of an extremely well-known hotel (the Marriott) located in central Islamabad and detonated.
The truck was carrying a whopping 1000kg of explosives.
Scores of people were injured. Countless died. Neighboring houses felt the impact, as their windows and doors exploded as soon as the vehicle blew up.
The Marriott Hotel in Islamabad had over 600 employees. Besides, numerous families were in the hotel opening their fast when the bombs exploded.
The impact was so great that the hotel and it's car parking area looks unrecognizable. All one can see now are the charred remains of a once beautiful building, and a 25 foot deep crater.
The incident is gut-wrenching and distressing.
Pakistanis today mourn the loss of the victims.
There's too much suffering. When will it end?
