gilchrist, tx after ike
September 21, 2008 | gilchrist, Texas | Vetting explained
my house in gilchrist, tx was totally destroyed. i have been on the road for 9 days. i have enrolled on line with fema but have not received a reply. they are impossible to reach on the phone. my insurance co. has not finalized my claim. my situation is not yet critical but it will be soon. i may or may not have a job to go back to but i certainly do not have a home to return to. my mother and mother in law both have homes in galveston and we will most likely be with one of them if not both. it is very frustrating dealing with fema and the insurance co. we were in a shelter for a while at first baptist church in florien, louisiana and they were the nicest people in the world. they fed us, sheltered us and were so very kind. we will never ever forget them. galveston is getting all of the media coverage because it is an old and historic city but my little town of gilchrist, tx just east of galveston is getting no coverage. my cell phone number is 4093927617

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
