One of my biggest thrills!
September 27, 2008 | New York, New York | Vetting explained
December 7, 2004 . . . it's a date I'll never forget. I was waiting for a friend outside a theater in the Village area of New York City. It was a extremely wet and cold evening. I decided to step inside the lobby of the theater to warm up and dry off. It was still several hours before curtain time. As I was looking at some advertisements on the wall, the door leading into the seating area of theater opened and there stood Paul Newman! He said, "what time does this play start?" I responded that I thought it started at 9 p.m. His reply, "Dammit, they told us it started at 7 p.m. We'll then we've got time to get a bite to eat." He went back inside to get his wife, Joanne. As he returned, I asked him if I could could take a photo with him and he happily said, "Sure!" He also autographed a playbill for me, writing, "To: Kevin, Best!, Paul Newman." I called as many people as I could to tell them I had just met Paul Newman!
