First Car
September 30, 2008 | Raleigh, North Carolina | Vetting explained
I bought my first car while I was still in the Army in 1969 after returning from Vietnam. I thought about a new Ford Bronco but then was swayed towards a Chevy Nove SS, an AMC AMX or a MGB GT. As it turned out though, since I was looking towards college, I decided on a used car instead and wound up with my 1966 MGB. I had to have a friend drive it back to base because I couldn't drive a manual gearbox. 'Quickly learned though. I owned it until 1989, first in NJ then in NY and, finally, in Maine. I'd give a lot to still have it but our new car now is a 'smart' and a great and timely car in it's own right.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
