The New Poland

The collapse of European communism began in Poland where the shipyard workers union Solidarity, led by Lech Walesa, became the focus of opposition to the martial regime of General Wojciech Jaruzelski, ultimately winning power in the country's first free elections in nearly 50 years.

As Poland celebrates the 20th anniversary of those elections on June 4, CNN wants to hear from people whose lives were affected by those historic events. Were you a member of Solidarity? Did you protest against Communist rule? Did you vote in the elections? What are your personal memories of that year of change? Has Poland changed for the better since 1989?

Send us words, video and photos and you could feature in CNN's "New Poland" coverage.
